Listen to the episode of This American Life that is linked here. When I say this hour will forever change you, I mean it with every fiber of my being. It follows students and school staff at Harper High School (a public school located in Chicago's South Side neighborhood of West Englewood).


I had the privilege of teaching the after-school art club at Harper the year NPR made this. When I say these kids are incomparable, it’s because I have nothing to compare their courage, resilience, and intelligence to. There aren't any words in the English language that will suffice.


If we start with these 4 things, I’m confident the rest will unfold.
