United Shades

PLEASE watch United Shades of America on CNN. The most recent episode which just aired, is about education and race. As citizens of this country, we owe it to each other to watch this program... especially in this moment.
In 2012, I taught an after school art program funded by special grants available that year at Harper High on Chicago's South Side, and although this is anecdotal, the art teacher there at the time, told me she had a 25 cent budget per student per semester... And I have every reason to believe her. That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the systemic discrimination and racism in public education.
