6 Month Poi Progress

M'ladies! Got a 15-second highlight reel of my poi progress. I started with zero skill or experience. I practiced a bit every week with the video lessons available through Spin Poi and....

6 months later I am CRUISING. I have SO much fun, my arms are on fire afterwords, and I feel like I'm one of those ribbon-twirling rhythmic gymnasts at the Olympics while I'm doing it. I always spin to music, which makes it even more fun. You gotta try it.

Two reminders... First, Dr. Kate (who founded Spin Poi) got her PHD in the mind/body benefits of this Maori art form. It's not only good for your physical body, it's medicine for your brain. Check out her research, as well as her offerings. Secondly, if you click here, you can see the first time I ever spun my poi. It is atrocious, but an excellent before and after comparison.

The song I was listening to here on my record player is Holy Hive "Oh I Miss Her So" with Mary Lattimore on the harp... üüüff. They just put out a few new songs that are beautiful bangers through Big Crown Records. Ya gotta check em out.
